Latest Transfer Gossip: From Hull to Serie B

Forget the Championship play-off final and the World Cup, Leeds United’s transfer business this summer is far more important than any of that and if rumours are to be believed, the next few months could be an exciting time for us Whites with a number of decent names linked to the club.

With this in mind, we sift through those rumours and look at which ones are hot and which ones are colder than a Tuesday night at Stoke.

Abel Hernandez – Hull City

The biggest rumour that has been floating around for nearly a week now is that Uruguayan striker Abel Hernandez is set to make the short trip from Hull to Leeds.

According to his agent, he has snubbed CSKA Moscow in order to join the Whites and considering he is out of contract this summer, is looking like a deal that is destined to happen.

And what a deal it would be.

A proven striker with 27 caps to his name, Hernandez is a quality striker with a strong goals-to-game ratio at all of the clubs he has played at.

At just 27, it is a wonder more Premier League clubs are not in for him but that is set to be our gain.

Harry Wilson – Liverpool

Youngster Harry Wilson is another in a long line of Liverpool youth products who looks set for big things.

The 21-year-old winger spent some time on loan at Hull last season and in his 14 appearances for the club netted a stunning 7 times.

However, the whites are embroiled in a battle to take the youngster on loan for the season with Aston Villa and Rangers.

Hot or Not? Not

John McGinn – Hibernian

Paul Heckingbottom is reported to be a big fan of Hibs midfielder John McGinn, and keen to add him to the Whites squad this summer.

With seven Scotland caps and over 100 first team appearances for Hibs, at 23-years of age, McGinn has proved a valuable asset to the Edinburgh club.

Leeds are willing to pay £2.5 million but Hibs want closer to £5m and with Celtic in the fray for his signature, this one is likely to rumble on a while but there is every chance McGinn will be making the trip South of the Border for the start of next season.

Hot or Not? Lukewarm

Jerry Mbakogu – Carpi

Who, you may be wondering is Jerry Mbakogu and you would have every right to ask the question, but the 25-year-old winger is another with a likely link to owner Andrea Radrizzani.

Nigerian Mbakogu has been plying his trade with Serie B side Carpi for a number of seasons but does boast 28 goals in 92 league appearances which is a pretty decent record no matter what league you are in.

Apparently, a gentleman’s agreement was made between Leeds and Carpi back in February with a deal agreed with Mbakogu almost certainly set to be unveiled as a Leeds player sooner rather than later.
