Angela Rayner resigns as Deputy PM over stamp duty underpayment
Angela Rayner quit as Deputy Prime Minister and Housing Secretary after admitting she underpaid stamp duty by about £40,000 on an £800,000 flat in Hove. She had treated it as her main residence while keeping her constituency home listed for council tax. She referred herself to the ethics adviser, then resigned two days later. David Lammy has been named Deputy PM. HMRC penalties are likely.
