Monday Round-up – Dallas Out

By Ian Waterhouse

After a disappointing result on Saturday, we take a look at the stories surrounding Elland Road ahead of Tuesday night’s clash against Wigan Athletic.

Dallas injury worse than initially feared

After returning from international duty with Northern Ireland with a thigh strain, Leeds’s influential winger Stuart Dallas will be side-lined for the visit of Wigan Athletic to Elland Road on Tuesday night.

Dallas (25) picked up the injury during Northern Ireland’s 4-0 win over San Marino and missed the whites 1-0 defeat to Derby at the weekend.

To make matters worse there is the possibility of Dallas missing Leeds’s trip to Wolves on Saturday with manager Garry Monk telling the Yorkshire Evening Post:

“We have rescanned him and it is likely that he’s going to be out for a little bit, Whether it will be the weekend we will see. We won’t really know until midweek exactly what sort of length it’s going to be.”

Green to Extend Stay

Veteran and former England goalkeeper Rob Green is set to extend his stay at Elland Road by signing a one-year contract extension.

36-year-old Green has impressed for the Whites this term and played in all of our 12 Championship games to date.

It is reported that Green has an appearance-related clause in his contract which will certainly be met, but he was apparently due to offered the contract regardless in a bid to keep him at Elland Road.

Leeds to Play Two up-Front for Wigan Match?

Former Leeds player Steve Hodge has urged Whites manager Garry Monk to play Wood and Antonsson up-front for the home match against Wigan tomorrow night.

Leeds will start the match as favourites and Hodge believes Wigan are there for the taking telling Radio Yorkshire:

“Wigan are not a great team. They are vulnerable, so let’s go and attack them on our own pitch”.

Wigan sit in the relegation zone having just claimed two wins all season but remarkably boast identical goals for and against record as the Whites having scored 12 and conceded 14 this season.
